Japan National Stadium


Japan National Stadium, the main venue for this year’s Olympic summer games in Tokyo.

Japan National Stadium was built for Olympic and Para summer games in Tokyo which was supposed to be in 2020 but it was postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Actually it is the second generation stadium, due to original, the first National Stadium was opened in 1958, and used for Olympic games in 1964, the first Olympic games in Asia. The deconstruction of the original stadium started in 2014 and the new stadium was built at the same place, which open in December 2019.

Japan National Stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies and also the venue for athletic games; track and field. The stadium will be called Olympic stadium during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The capacity is 68000 spectators.

After the Paralympic games, the stadium will be the venue for large sport events especially international and domestic football matches. The nearest station is Kokuritsukyogijomae of Toei Oedo subway line.
