Mount Yufu, 1583 m, is an active volcano located in Yufu, Oita prefecture. Mt. Yufu has two peaks, East peak and the highest, West peak. Its nickname is Bungo-Fuji. Bungo is a former province name of current Oita prefecture till 19th century.
Mt.Yufu is a popular hiking destination, not only in Oita but also in entire Kyushu. There are three major hiking routes leading to the summit. Mt.Yufu belongs to Aso Kuju National Park.
