Updated: Mar 5, 2022

Umekoji-Kyotonishi station

Umekoji-Kyotonishi is a station on San'in main line(Locally called Sagano line) in Shimogyo ward in Kyoto. It is relatively new station opened in March 2019.

The name Umekoji comes from Umekoji park which is near by. Kyotonishi means west Kyoto. There are two major attractions located at Umekoji park, Kyoto Aquarium and Kyoto Railway museum. Before the commence of Umekoji-Kyotonishi station, the nearest station was Kyoto station which is approximately 1.7 km away. Daily ridership was around 4800 in 2019.

Unfortunately only local trains call at Umekoji-Kyotonishi station. Basically there are 4 local trains running hourly from Kyoto station, 3 trains bound for Kameoka and 1 train bound for Sonobe.
