Probably one of the Japanese words which are widely known outside of Japan is manga. Especially teenagers acknowledge this word better than kamikaze.
Actually manga is a synonym of comic for Japanese but it is not considered abroad. Manga is considered as Japanese comics especially for young generations. On the other hand, there are many Japanese manga which read by elder generation.
Anyway, the process of manga is not widely known abroad. Manga book is not published first. Most of them are published on weekly, biweekly or monthly magazines and then individually published as the book. Then, popular manga will be an anime. However, sometimes the story of anime and the original manga is different.
