Rice field in Fukushima prefecture

One of the fields which you can hardly see in most of the Europe is the rice field. As you know, rice is the most important crop in Japan, which Japanese may eat three times a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Therefore rice fields are located everywhere from Hokkaido to Okinawa.

May be the most famous rice fields are located in Niigata prefecture, around Uonuma, which grows popular Koshihikari rice. Other famous rice brands are Hitomebore from Miyagi prefecture, Akita-komachi from Akita prefecture, and Nanatsuboshi from Hokkaido. All these three prefectures are located north of Tokyo, in northern Honshu and Hokkaido, which is located north of Honshu.
