Ropeway

Mt.Fuji Panoramic Ropeway

Japan is famous as high speed trains but also due to 60% of the land is hilly or mountainous area, there are many cable cars and aerial tramways too. Then, aerial tramway is called ROPEWAY in Japan.

One of the popular ropeways for foreign tourists are the one in Kagaguchiko, Yamanashi prefecture. Kawaguchiko village is a place where famous Kawaguchiko lake is located and you can enjoy the magnificent view of Mt.Fuji.

How to get to Kawaguchiko:

There is a train to Kawaguchiko but unfortunately between Otsuki and Kawaguchiko is operated by Non-JR Fuji kyuko railways. Otsuki can be reached by limited express Kaiji from Shinjuku. Limited express Kaiji departs hourly from Shinjuku. Also, there is a daily connection from Narita airport by limited express Narita Express which calls at Tokyo station too.

Other popular ropeways for foreigners are located in Hakone, Kyoto, Miyajima, Onomichi, Nagasaki and Matsuyama. The ticket types are similar to European tramways; single way and return. Of course return ticket is cheaper than buying 2 single ways.
