German band Alphaville's debut single released in 1984.

This song unfortunately did not reach the Billboard Top 40 but achieved number one in several countries including their homeland Germany.

In the 80's, Japan or Japanese related words started to be included in the lyrics. The famous ones are M's Pop Musik and Blondie's Rapture.

It seems that the Western started to have interest on Japan in 80s, not only Ninja or geisha but also Japanese modern world.

By the way, there are several bands or artists which are popular but have less intentions in their home countries.
